Medical Council of India is still on wait over the issue of 12,000 MBBS admission seats from 97 colleges in the nation. According to the MCI rules, medical colleges are instructed to give the student particulars. The same is made to verify compliance to the NEET 2017 counseling process as framed. HT reveals that close to ninety seven educational colleges have not given the information, although repeated several times from the council.
The verification of admission details is compulsory in the cap guidelines as declared by MCI. Any irregularities found in the admission process can way back to cancellation of the seat allotted to these candidates. So far, MCI had rejected nearly 778 MBBS seats in Pondicherry after getting complaints on irregularities. The entire 778 students were in their 2nd year of MBBS degrees in different private colleges of the UT.
If the check was made in the last year then these cancellations would have been avoided. Thus these students, could have then had space to get ready for NEET 2017 and avail admissions.
MCI claims that there are few colleges that admit students beyond their potential or even after the admission due dates. With no submission of particulars the candidates will be suffering at all times. Nearly 65,000 seats from 460 colleges were occupied by the counseling held by MCI.
